Como é assegurada a qualidade, eficácia e segurança dos medicamentos?
É
importante assegurar a qualidade, eficácia e segurança de todos os medicamentos
comercializados. Para isso, são feitos testes pré-clínicos e clínicos,
separados em 4 fases. A primeira acontece com um número reduzido de pacientes
saudáveis para uma avaliação da farmacocinética e farmacodinâmica do fármaco; a
segunda utiliza um número pequeno de enfermos e avalia a terapêutica, além
das reações adversas graves ou leves; e a terceira já é um ensaio clínico
controlado com maior número de pacientes avaliando também a frequência dos
efeitos adversos além de verificar a terapêutica estudada. Após estas fases, o
fármaco aprovado pode ser comercializado mas ainda será fiscalizado através da
farmacovigilância, pois apesar dos estudos anteriores detectarem algumas
reações adversas e mesmo havendo legislações e regulamentos rigorosos, algumas
só são identificadas na prática clínica habitual.
A
farmacovigilância se encaixa na quarta fase de aprovação do medicamento e é imprescindível
para fazer o controle pós comercialização do deste fármaco. Nesses estudos é
possível encontrar novas terapêuticas associadas ao medicamento, quantificar e
avaliar os casos relatados de reações adversas e em casos de extrapolação
destes, tomar as devidas atitudes junto a Agência Nacional de Vigilância
Sanitária – ANVISA além de alertar aos
consumidores sobre os riscos de determinada medicação. Os centros de
farmacovigilância podem servir também como intermédio entre empresa e
consumidor, prezando pela melhora da qualidade dos medicamentos
disponibilizados e o menor risco a saúde.

Você como paciente é responsável por comunicar ao seu médico, ou farmacêutico,
sintomas sentidos após o início do uso de um medicamento. Notificar é fácil e
rápido e contribui para o melhoramento desses medicamentos, além de fornecer dados
estatísticos para aumentar o conhecimento sobre eles após serem comercializados.

NOTIFICAÇÃO
Você sabia que quando você toma um medicamento e tem uma reação adversa (uma resposta indesejada do seu corpo ao medicamento) você deve notificar, ou seja, comunicar a ANVISA ou a um Centro de Farmacovigilância?
Essa atitude é muito importante, pois a indústria que produz o remédio vai passar a ter conhecimento do que este está causando no paciente, e se irá retirar o medicamento do mercado ou não, caso o número de reações estejam aumentando (o que mostra que ele está causando mal a nós e não resolvendo nosso problema de saúde).
O mesmo deve ser feito quando você compra, por exemplo, uma caixinha de medicamentos e um deles vem quebrado ou com uma cor diferente.

I am bold enough among many others to state that there is now a potent cure to this sickness but many are unaware of it.
